Mee Kasar Mee Siam

Friends of Nazry...

Mr Shali is a very good eating companion of myself. We have shared some exotic food eating moments at many unconventional places. We even have had porcupine meat, "napuh" meat in a restaurant in Seremban. Unfortunately, today we had a bit of argument because of this ordinary Mee Kasar and Mee Siam.

This morning, I bought 3 types of Mee. I ate the Mee Tiau and left out Mee Kasar and Mee Siam to be shared with my eating companion, Mr Shali. I called Mr Shali early and inform him that I had "tapau 2 bungkus" in the pantry. I thought he is eating that in the morning.... but he did not!! That's ok with me since lunch is always available.

Upon lunch time, I called Mr Shali again to ask which type of Mee he wants to eat. To my surprise, he said that ...."I want to eat Nasi and not Mee". Food wastage is never in my vocabulary. Bluntly I said to Mr Shali that I am dissapointed with such a remark. I have always taught my wife and my kids that to appreciate food - be it delicious or not!! Food is God's gift for all and should be cherished at all time ... regardless!!

I put down the phone.. not expecting Mr Shali to call me back!! I was furious and very dissapointed, sigh!! I sincerely thought .... I just lost a good eating companion. I actually made a new year resolution to force-add Mr Shali's weight by at least another 10 kilogram. To my surprise, half and hour later, Mr Shali asked me to eat the Mee Kasar and Mee Siam together with Nasi. This is a good sign.... as I never want to lose a friend because of food!!

Today at least, I have another person to share lunch with.

Moral of the story:
1) Any wastage (food, water, time etc) is Devil's job - not human
2) We must always be thankful and appreciate food - regardless of its presentation
3) Friendship shall always superseeds disagreement
